Hello! I am Abigail Pope, one of this year’s Orientation Assistants and the 1st Battalion Guidon. Our role as Orientation Assistants is to distribute waters, take photographs, update the blog, and overall assist the Cadre to ensure your Cadet Candidates’ assimilation experience runs as smoothly as possible.

A little about myself
I live in Falmouth, MA and am studying Emergency Management here at the academy. I have two dogs, Eddie and Daisy, have a twin sister (fraternal), and play softball for MMA. I am looking forward to seeing the amazing work of our Cadet Leadership Program as the Regiment is put to the test in such novel times.

Hi! I am Alexandra DeCecca, an incoming sophomore at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. I am an orientation assistant alongside Abigail Pope. I am from Wakefield, MA, and I am majoring in International Maritime Business. During these next few weeks of Pre-Assimilation and Assimilation itself, Abby and I are going to be updating this blog daily. Throughout these next three weeks as orientation assistants, our role is to fill the water jugs as needed, take pictures, and help out with anything that may be needed throughout the day.

Through this blog, our hope is to keep everyone off campus, updated about all that is going on here at MMA. We hope that the blog may ease any nerves about the unknown of how things are being handled given the circumstances. Also, how everything is going for the new cadet candidates, who are taking on this very different chapter in their lives. We are excited to see what these next three weeks have in store. We are all glad to be back, and are excited to meet the new incoming freshman!
