Thank You Bookstore Staff

“Motivated, Motivated, Down Right Dedicated…”

There are countless hours of unseen effort, thought, and dedication poured into all aspects of Orientation, and this couldn’t be more true than with the assembly of this year’s Assimilation Program.

Saturday August 15, 2020…

The day before the youngies arrive, the Cadre are given a rundown of the uniform distribution procedures for Assimilation 2020.

With the numerous protocols that must be put in place to ensure the safety of our academy, many if not all of the procedures that have been practiced in the past have required amendments in order to adhere to the guidelines that are helping us to navigate the current environment.

One of the most impressive feats of adaptation and ingenuity is portrayed through the hard work of the bookstore staff right here on Academy Drive.

Not only are these individuals responsible for supplying the youngies with all the necessary attire to truly become a Cadet, they must do so amid a pandemic… and the remodeling of the gym (where uniform distribution is typically staged). Many curve balls have been thrown their way but they have continued to stand by the Regiment of Cadets and continue to prove themselves to be among the most dedicated and amazing staff members on campus.

Ms. Ericka Simmons, the new Bookstore manager, and Mr. Jim Callan or, as many of us here on campus refer to him as, “Bookstore Jim”, have done an exemplary job in redesigning the distribution process and setting up the ABS for uniform distribution.

This post is dedicated to them and their staff, who have executed their plans with remarkable attention to detail.

In the ABS there will be a strict traffic pattern which is instilled to maintain social distancing between Cadet Candidates. Each deck of the ABS has been carefully taped out with clear arrows and directions for the youngies to follow. Boxes of uniforms sit clearly labeled, stationed, and organized, filling the 00 and 03 decks of the ABS. These articles are patiently waiting to be claimed upon the arrival of the Cadet Candidates.

The Class of 2024 is in the skilled hands of our bookstore staff, who will have them looking sharp in no time.

A resounding thank you to Ericka Simmons, Jim Callan, and the rest of the bookstore staff members and volunteers for all your hard work. We couldn’t do it without you all!
